SwimTastic’s Nick Bone takes on the Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim
The Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim is an iconic 1.5 mile (2.4km) open-water challenge across San Francisco Bay, taking swimmers from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park.
This year, 10 swimmers from NZBLUE, including SwimTastic’s Managing Director Nick Bone, took on the challenge alongside hundreds of swimmers from around the world.
Nick deliver an outstanding performance, completing the swim in 34 minutes and 9 seconds, finishing 6th overall and 2nd in his age group.
NZBLUE brings its members together each year to take on fitness and endurance challenges while raising money for New Zealand charities. This year the group has raised over $60,000, combining an incredible personal challenge with an even greater cause.
From the pool to one of the world’s most recognisable open-water swims, it’s a fantastic achievement from Nick and the entire NZBLUE team.
