Why learn to swim?

Swimming is more than just great exercise, it’s an essential life skill that builds confidence and helps keep people safer in and around the water.

In New Zealand, where water is such a big part of our lifestyle, these skills are especially important. According to Water Safety New Zealand, 78 people drowned in 2025, with an average of 86 people each year over the past decade. One preventable drowning is too many.

Learning to swim develops valuable water safety skills while also improving fitness and strength. Most importantly, it gives children and adults the confidence to enjoy the water safely throughout their lives.

At SwimTastic, the joy swimming brings to children and adults alike is what we we are so deeply passionate about.
